We saw some big upsets in Wimbledon this week. Six times champion of Wimbledon the Swiss Roger Federer was knocked out by Tomas Berdych from Czech in the quarters. Whereas world number one Rafael Nadal saw safely through to the semi-finals after beating the Swede Robin Soderling in four sets and will now face Britain’s Andy Murray. Rafa has been playing brilliantly so far and certainly is speeding through his games like a fast car. I reckon it is because of the trip he made to see some new cars but fast cars which recently arrived in the market. The boy does like fast cars, you can tell from his collections? You never know?
Now that Roger is out many have changed their view and have said Nadal will win it. When interviewed after his defeat, Roger said that he was feeling a bit week because of an injury on his back. Nadal were always the favourites with the bookies and they haven’t changed their mind. Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray might have something to say about that but they will have to up their game. We still have three of the top four players in the semi-finals. On their day they can beat anyone so shouldn’t count anyone out yet. Berdych on the other hand has proved that on his day he can be a world beater by beating Federer.
This year anyone of these four can win it so it is very hard to call. On the other side in Women’s draw it is only Serena Williams left out of the top ten and clearly is the favourite to win.
All the Murray fans are hoping that Andy will come through with his first grand slam this year at Wimbledon but now he has to pass through Nadal to reach the final.
I am certainly taking the day off from my car reviews daily job this Friday to see these matches. I nearly crashed my Audi a4 saloon the other day when driving to London and listening to the commentary of Andy’s and Tsonga’s match. Wimbledon is now getting exciting.
Who is your money on?
