Whereas Ireland’s financial repute might have received a severe set back back, its popularity as a tourist spot spot seems to not have been hit as hard. Dedicated readers of Frommer’s travel guides voted the country into first place as the best vacationer vacation spot for the upcoming year.

Ireland has knocked Paris, France off the highest spot and has been described by the resource as a very vacationer-friendly nation. Tourists enjoy the surroundings and the folks together with great bars and taverns, historic castles, lush landscapes, and is sufficiently small to discover via car or bicycle.

The guide’s Irish high points include sailing across the the country’s west coast, horseback riding, and consuming a hot whiskey in on of Ireland’s famous pubs. It also recommends the Slieve Blooms, Newgrange,Cahir Castle, Powerscourt Gardens, Glendalough, the Dublin Writers’ Museum, kayaking in west Cork, biking via Cork and Kerry and kissing the Blarney Stone.

Ireland’s vacationer attitudes survey is also hopeful positive news. Preliminary findings indicate 57 per cent of tourists surveyed this year stated Ireland supplied good all-round value for the dough, in contrast with 47 per cent the previous year, an indication the price cut backs of recent years are hitting home.

Online dialogue about the real value for the money when visiting Ireland helps this view.

A poster on a Frommer’s forum asked if the Irish financial crisis and the poor exchange rate of the United States dollar to the euro meant that 2011 will be a great time to visit Ireland. He was told it was an excellent time, with good offers on inclusive escorted bus excursions and bargains on automobile hire.

Another optimistic development was a new summer flight service between Charlotte, NC and Dublin which should be able to begin in May. The prediction is that the United states economy would go back to growth in 2011 and will probably be helped with the Irish department of tourism kicking off a significant advertising drive there.

Consumer confidence and vacation sentiment in Ireland is on the upswing, with research showing there is a great demand for travel representing a real opportunity for the country of Ireland.

The company is focusing on the U.k. market with a tv marketing campaign in March and a yr-long marketing campaigns on social media, online and the radio. The “How Irish Are You?” marketing campaign will even be run to coincide with the upcoming UK census, which will permit individuals to citizenship in both countries.

The reduction of the 10 euros flight travel tax to three euros has also been welcomed by the industry.

As well as travelling to the the U.K., U.S. and Ireland, the author Tyler Burke has fun playing bingo at the top online bingo halls including Bingo Gala one the best sites for bingo players from the US, UK and Canada.

So you are planning a trip to Europe? There are certain cities that are must sees. They are the location of world famous sites and landmarks, and offer a special insight into Europes myriad of cultures.

London is amazingly diverse. More languages are spoken in London than in any other city in the world! This diversity creates an amazing variety of cultures that are reflected in Londons dining, theaters, museums, galleries and even its famous landmarks. Do not miss Big Ben or Buckingham Palace. Being a center of world culture, London offers shoppers the unique experience of finding the best in designer clothing as well as the opportunity to shop for many other interesting items.

The beautiful Spanish city of Barcelona sits on the Mediterranean coast. As a consequence of it being the capital of the Catalan region of Spain, it has its own proud and unique history and culture, which sets it apart from the majority of Spain. Historically and and architecturally there is a lot of interest, from Roman ruins to spectacular churches. There are countless art galleries and museums to walk around and also a selection of beautiful, relaxing beaches. For sports fans, there is the opportunity to watch a game of football at the Camp Nou, which is home to what is widely agreed to be the best football team on the planet.

The famous Italian city of Venice is set into a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It is essentially many small islands joined together by a canal. At one time it was one a power base of Europe as a result of its naval might and strong trade connections. Whilst it is no longer a hub of economic activity, its grand and magnificent buildings and monuments remain as testament to its glory days. These days it is a very calm and relaxing place – perfect for a romantic trip away. For the true Venice experience, visitors should spend at least a few hours taking a boat trip through the streets. It will be something that you never forget.

Everyone must see Paris at least once in their life. It is known as one of the most romantic cities in the world. It is also a large city that pulses with life. Many world famous architectural sites are found in Paris, including The Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame and The Eiffel Tower. The River Seine runs through Paris, giving it much of its character. Look carefully and you will find small squares and secret gardens at the heart of Paris. The Louvre is the most well known museum of art in Paris but there are many others to visit as well. And who does not know that Paris is a center for food and shopping?

London is serviced by 5 major airports, simply because of the huge number of tourists that visit the capital each year. Each of these airports offers good links to the city centre; a fact that makes them popular destinations for visitors and commuters alike.

Heathrow Airport – The majority of visitors to the UK fly into one of Heathrow’s 5 terminals. The airport accommodates 90 individual airlines that fly in from over 170 major airports worldwide; making it is busiest for international travelers. Traveling into the city from Heathrow is quick and simple with the London Underground being on site. The journey is just short of 22km, it takes approximately 50 minutes and costs around $6.

Gatwick Airport – Gatwick is located slightly further from the centre of London (45km) however the transport network into the city is very good. If traveling by bus the journey can take up to 90 minutes, depending on the time of day and traffic conditions. Alternatively Gatwick trains run regularly into London Victoria. Gatwick is smaller than Heathrow and is better known for its charter and discount flights.

Stansted Airport – Although not as big as the major airports Stansted caters for a range of budget airlines, a fact that makes it a popular choice for tourists. The airport is located nearly 50km NE of London’s centre but the variety of transport links make commuting easy. Terravision, Stansted Bus and easyBus are reliable methods of travel into London with Marble Arch, Baker Street and Victoria Station being popular destinations.

Luton Airport – Luton Airport is actually located in the county of Bedfordshire, approximately 55km north of London’s centre. Being a small, single runway airport it is commonly used by commuters traveling to destinations in Europe and for visitors arriving on budget airlines. There are bus services that run into London 24 hours per day, the most popular of which are easyBus and Green Line.

London City Airport – Although this small inner-city airport only offers a single runway it is highly popular with business travelers destined for the financial district of London. Located close to Canary Wharf the London City Airport is just 11km from the city centre and is well connected via the Docklands Light Railway and a plethora of bus services. It is worth mentioning that planes landing here must be able to perform short take-offs and equally short landings.

International airports outside London include Birmingham and Manchester, both of which offer an alternative to the airports of London. Birmingham airport is central to the UK while Manchester is located in the north. Both have outstanding transport links to all the major cities of the UK, including of course London.

Bristol, the premier city for the South West of England, serves as the entrance to some of the country’s most scenic locations. Having the fifth largest population in England, as well as a rich and colorful history, it has recently transformed into a modern, vibrant European city packed with attractions to suit every kind of visitor .

The original town was 10th century trading port and the city’s maritime heritage is highlighted by the achievements of Bristol’s most famous son, the great Victorian inventor Kingdom Brunel. He was responsible for the SS Great Britain, which became the first iron-hulled, propeller-driven ship to pass between the UK and America and, of course, the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, which offers breathtaking views over Bristol.

One of the most important changes to Bristol over recent years has been the transformation of the city’s harborside from a bustling commercial dock to an attractive development filled with restaurants, bars, shops and a range of hotels to suit every visitors pocket. Attractions to look out for include The Hippodrome, Explore-At-Bristol, and Bristol City Football Club. Jumping on a ferry is an ideal way to see the area from a different perspective, with stops at key points along the waters’ edge.

For the dedicated shopaholic, the new Cabot Circus shopping complex has propelled Bristol into the top 10 list of UK shopping destinations. With over 100 new shops, including major flagship stores, restaurants, cafes and delis, and a state-of-the-art 13-screen cinema, this impressive site guarantees that shoppers will not leave Bristol disappointed.

Walk a short distance from the central shopping areas and you will find yourself surrounded by the enchanting old buildings and relics of the past in Bristol’s original Old City. The cobbled streets of Corn Street, Broad Street, King Street and St Nicholas Market remain much the same today as they were hundreds of years ago. Do not miss the majestic Corn Exchange or the quirky old Llandoger Trow pub on King Street.

—

Cheap Hotel Chains price compares all latest cheap hotel deals across the world, ensuring you find the very best deal for your chosen hotel and destination. This month we are running a feature on Bristol, England’s gateway to the South West.
