After twelve award-winning years, Eurostar is the hallmark in Europe for the best transit between London and Paris. Since its opening in 1994, they have served over 75 million passengers, covering over 100 destinations, and offer accommodations for all of your needs.

Eurostar should not be confused with Eurotunnel, as they both travel “The Chunnel”, Eurostar is a passenger only train, where as Eurotunnel also shuttles vehicles, passengers, and other cargo. You can enjoy comfort and luxury while traveling at speeds topping out at 186 miles an hour. If you get hungry or need to do any of your office work while you are on the train, they are able to meet your specific needs. Hot or cold three course meals are provided to first class, while second-class ticket holders may take advantage of the buffet car, purchase meal tickets, or bring along their own food or drink.

Eurostar train fares from London to Paris start as low as $116 one-way, or $160 round trip, when booking your ticket directly with them. Although Eurostar is not included with a rail pass, there are discounted rates available, called Passholder fares if you have one. Booking your seat on line could give you added discounts, especially if you are booking a hotel room as well. Eurostar allows people to purchase tickets as far forward as nine months in advance, but must sometimes limit the open window to only four months advance booking. Many website have special bundle deals for traveling with Eurostar, but you need to make sure that you are aware of any additional fee that may be incurred if your plans change.

Special offers by airlines may appear to be cheaper than going on Eurostar between London and Paris. On the surface this may be true, however after you add airport taxes, additional travel fees to reach the city centers, check in times and baggage claims, the value clearly lies with Eurostar trains. Brussels, Disneyland Paris, and the French Alps are all part of the Eurostar line, along with almost 100 other destinations and transfer points.

When the need arises for commuting, taking a vacation, or even if you just want to go shopping for a day Eurostar can meet your needs. With affordable rates, top-notch service, beautiful destinations, and high-speed transit, Eurostar is the way to go. See for yourself why they have been named The World’s Leading Rail Service 12 years in a row.

ITN News / ITN news on Friday 18th December

The UK is in chaos after several days of intense winter weather and snowfall.

Roads are littered with abandoned vehicles in many of the worst hit parts of the country. As temperatures rallied into positive figures today many were returning to retrieve their vehicles. There have been reports that a high number of people have spent the night trapped in their cars in freezing temperatures.

There has been extensive disruption to public transport with many train cancellations. High speed Eurostar trains that run between London and Paris have been breaking down due to snow getting into the power systems. Around 2000 unfortunate travellers found themselves trapped for 16 hours in the dark tunnel under the English Channel. Some passengers have experienced panic attacks and there have been some cases of extreme claustrophobia prompting some to leave their trains and attempt to walk to a station.

Eurostar have now begun to resume operation of their high speed trains after three days with no service. They now have huge passenger backlogs to deal with in both France and the UK.

The National Health service has told people to stay at home unless their journey is essential. Hospital accident and emergency departments have reported huge numbers of people requiring treatment for injuries sustained as a result of falls on icy pavements.

Since Chrstmas is only a few days away many are forced to venture into their nearby towns to carry out their essential shopping. This is forcing many people to go out onto dangerous, icy footpaths.

Discussions have already begun regarding how well the UK has coped with this latest round of bad weather. Councils have been quick to treat main roads with salt and grit but many side roads and most pavements have remained untreated and dangerous.

Back in February 2009 the UK spent several weeks in sub-zero arctic temperatures that wreaked havoc on transportation disrupted schools and work for many people. This latest period of bad weather has prompted many people to ask why the UK suffers so much when winter comes along.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

For great contract hire deals you need to visit the recently updated nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk website. Even if you have previously been refused credit they can help you get the car you want with their bad credit car loans. So why not take a look at the latest BMW leasing deals.

Eurostar train break downs, caused by the unusually severe winter weather, have resulted in tens of thousands of travelers stranded or delayed. As many as 55,000 travelers have had their journeys disrupted by no less than six train break downs.

Eurostar have reported that although their trains have been reliable for over 15 years the abnormally acute weather conditions in northern France have caused the problems that have been experienced. Eurostar have identified the flaw that has caused their trains to fail and they are taking steps to fix the issue.

As many as 2000 passengers have been trapped on broken down trains in the Channel tunnel. Some spent up to 16 hours incarcerated in their train beneath the English Channel. Many had no food, no water and no information from the train operators telling them what was happening. Some travellers abandoned their stranded trains and attempted to walk through the cold, dark tunnel which extends for 24 miles beneath the channel.

Although Eurostar have issued apologies and promised to pay refunds and compensation to travelers affected by the debacle many passengers are very unhappy with the way the situation has been managed. There have been reports of some passengers suffering panic attacks and some experiencing claustrophobia in the confined tunnel. Many passengers have complained about the lack of information from the train operator.

On Saturday as many as 31,000 ticket holders were forced to change their travel plans and on Sunday all services were cancelled resulting in a further 27,000 people being stranded.

Continuing bad weather has disrupted flights from many British airports. Wether forecasters have warned that even more snow is on its way and this will mean further travel disruption as people embark on their Christmas holidays. The Scottish Police have advised travelers to stay at home unless their journey is absolutely essential.

***********************************

When flying from Scottish airport save money by booking your Glasgow airport parking, Edinburgh airport parking or Aberdeen airport parking in advance.
