It seems that we’re compelled to draw up a new list of Modern wonders at least twice a year. In emulation of what was essentially a Hellenistic tourist guide to Egyptian, Persian and Babylonian sights, a number of concerns have attempted to advance our interest in engineering and tourism. One group that exists specifically to advance the world recognition of important sites is the ‘New7Wonders’ website, on which people vote for the wonders of the world. A list of ‘modern wonders’ has already been published by New7Wonders. Of the seven finally chosen, only Brazil’s ‘Christ the Redeemer’ statue was what most would define as ‘modern’, with others (like the Great Wall Of China) simply appearing like omissions from the original ancient list.

Having put together this completely non-decisive list, the New7Wonders campaign has moved onto defining the ‘Seven Wonders of Nature’. The shortlist contains a great density of locations throughout Eurasia and Oceania, but rather controversially finds little of beauty in Russia, North America and Africa. Hopefully people will be inspired to see the candidates for inclusion to judge for themselves, helping emerging tourist economies as they do so. Maldives holidays are a great place to start your world tour of the world’s most beautiful sites, as they are pretty much the final world in tropical beauty. Other obvious candidates include the Grand Canyon, Amazon and Great Barrier Reef. The trouble with having these three on the list is that they really don’t need any more tourism, both because of their popularity and because of their ecological fragility.

In my personal opinion, I’d like to see Vietnam holidays celebrated for Halong Bay, a relatively obscure piece of Asian natural beauty. The description on the new7wonders website makes it sounds so mundane: ‘features thousands of karsts and isles in various shapes and sizes’. It really fails to do this beautiful bay area justice, even if the photos are truthful enough. The only other thing to grumble about here is that, as positive as this could be for tourism, where is the value in measuring beauty anyway? Beauty is superficial and visual. Is the freezing cold of the Arctic and the baking sun of the Sahara not in some way something to fill us full of wonder?. Just because the landscape of my Mauritius Holidays aren’t included, doesn’t mean there isn’t unparalleled and unique beauty to be found there.

It’s rather unfortunate that a quick search of the news will currently turn up only one thing: Piracy. In recent news, a Saga cruise ship was chased for a short time by a Somali lifeboat, with the passengers on board told to congregate inside the ship. This is a highly unusual instance, unlikely to be repeated. Pirates usually target private boats and cargo shipping with small crews. But there is understandably a growing anxiety over tourism in the region. But there should be no reason for people to cancel their Mauritius holidays over the supposed issue.

A total of 52 ships were seized in 2010, with Somali pirates behind 49 of the attacks. But despite this, tourist journeys in the troubled zone aren’t even typical of tourism in the area. Most journeys through that area are via plane, and Piracy in Mauritius is as much a relic of the Golden Age of Piracy as it is in the Caribbean. The problematic zone doesn’t extend to offshore activities, and doesn’t extend very far to the east either. If you’re looking at your tickets and starting to be worried about how piracy will ruin your Maldives holidays, you may need to brush up on your Geography.

Piracy is undoubtedly a problem, but it is utterly irrelevant for the tropical islands of the wider Indian Ocean. Just look to the tourism growth figures for 2010 for your proof. Source markets in Europe were already booking post-Christmas holidays in record numbers, after winter weather caused chaos throughout Europe and just generally translated into a rather glum atmosphere. World events should never stop you from enjoying your vacation, and there’s always a great reason to journey abroad. We’re looking towards a tourist utopia in many ways: markets like China are pumping more money into foreign economies, whilst new destinations are opened up by globally savvy regional leaders. For a great example, consider how Vietnam holidays are integral to the Vietnamese economy, as well as a way of engaging the once estranged country with the international community. It’s easy to let world news get you down, but don’t let it fool you into thinking the world isn’t worth seeing.

It may not be obvious at first, but there may be a few things you would want to visit in the Maldives. Generally speaking most people will be going to the Maldives for a relaxing holiday. However there may be some of you that build up a more curious notion, and may want to explore. Diving holidays provide you with an inordinate amount of different things to see including the marine life!

It can take some exploring, but there are a whole load of different jewels for you to find

The Capital of the Maldives is a landmark in its own right. If you want try and test your skills at some shopping, or you get the itch, this is the only place you can try it out. Good luck though, sorry but all you are going to find is a gift shop like atmosphere. So as said, this is very much like a gift shop, no commercial brands, well a few!

There is a Mosque called the Friday Mosque, and this one of the most uniquely crafted buildings around. A large amount of coral has been carved into this building, making it very beautiful. As you enter though these massive coral and wooden doors you are greeted by a hall way with large oil lamps hanging down.

Inside the Maldivian Capital is a quite place known as the Sultan Parks. The Sultan Parks were originally the garden of the palace before it was destroyed, now they are open to the public. The atmosphere that you get in these Parks is very different to the busy surroundings in the city. There is a lot even in the Garden for people to see. One of them is that it has archaeological discoveries strewn throughout it.

The most popular of all the attractions though is the sea Scuba Diving holidays are extremely difficult t lay out. The Maldives is lucky enough to have some of the most spectacular marine life, and beautiful visibility underwater!

These are just some of the reasons why Maldives holidays have become so popular over the past few years. They are often described as the “new” Caribbean holidays, and they are beginning to attract a lot of visitors.

Going away on something like a Maldives spa break is something that a lot of people do not really think about doing when it comes to taking their vacation. This is because they do not think of spa holidays when it comes to going away and this is a big mistake. When it comes to going to a place like the Maldives for a spa break , what kind of thing can you look at expecting??

Time To Relax

Relaxation is key to these types of vacation and you do not need to worry, if you are heading out on a vacation like India spa then you are going to be getting the relaxation you deserve. One of the best things about this is that you can tailor the vacation to how you want it. Spa breaks are great in that you can do this. If you fancy just one massage during your trip you can do this along with many other treatments. Of course if you like massages a lot then the great thing is you can have loads in a day, it is great.

Not Expensive At All

Another thing to think about when it comes to going on a spa break is that they are not very expensive at all and more often than not the food and everything comes with the price. This means that you can choose from a variety of foods and eat and drink knowing that everything you are having is all part of the budget you have already paid for.

when it comes to a vacation you are going there to relax, a spa break will certainly help with this. When it comes to great places to visit the Maldives certainly comes under the category!

A trip around the world can be a tricky thing to prepare for, you just need to be careful not to over do it. Some people need to pack some more than others, but something that is key, is to pack light. Make sure that you do not go mad packing, even if you are going for months, you want to keep as little on you as possible.

A trip around the world usually involves you walking long distances and staying in varied accommodation, so you need to make sure that you have clothes for all occasions, yet still stay light. Try not to overload yourself with clothes, take it easy with everything like T-shirts and Sweaters. Two pairs of jeans will do you fine, don’t take any more, maybe a couple of pairs of shorts. Underwear is very important, it won’t be able to get washed everyday so take plenty of it with you. Just try and think of it this way, you can get away with wearing Jeans for up to a week (I know gross, but deal with it). Underwear is something that you will want to change everyday, the last thing you need is a sweaty crotch bringing you down, I won’t go into too much detail!

A sleeping bag, this is the most obvious item, but also the least amusing to forget. The level of quality for all the hotels won’t be the most amazing, and you may find that you need a sleeping bag for extra warmth. The sleeping bag will be an absolute life saver, there is no doubt in my mind you will need it at some point. Luxury holidays this isn’t what i would call a luxury experience. Some countries require you to where some more “water resistant” clothing, but never fear, as long as you have your umbrella you will be fine. You may not think it but an umbrella will really help out.

Caribbean holidays also Maldives holidays all of these may not be a part of the holiday on your trip, but make a good relaxing holiday!

My name is James, and it’s been quite a while since I had been on a plane. It was a really long time ago that I last passed out, more than a decade. It was pretty clear to me that something was wrong, yet I didn’t feel or think that I was scared of flying, it just happened. Going back on to a plane was very low on my priority list, and decided to stay at home for holidays in future, may sound sad, but obviously it wasn’t in the house. About 2 years into my marriage, it was time to face my fears and get on a plane, all that way to Egypt, a massive mission!

All I could do was remember moments of when i was on the plane and then waking up at the arrival desk… Something else I better tell you as well, this also happened on the previous return flight as well¦ So I may have started to panic a little bit, even though I didn’t know what I was panicking about! So there was the plane, choices had to be made, and the choice to turn around and run wasn’t there. At the beginning everything seemed fine, I had a steady heart rate, and I wasn’t sweating at all, things just seemed to be going very well. Even after the four massive engines under the wings started going and we approached the run way i was fine!

This was all strange, I couldn’t understand why I passed out the previous time, and before I knew it, we were in the air. At this time though, the holiday seemed like a really exciting experience. I was really looking forward to getting to Egypt, and then jumping back on the plane. Things just had to go wrong didn’t they! Across the loud speakers, the Captain could be heard announcing that some heavy turbulence was heading our way. OK I braced myself, and it was really rocking and shaking from side to side, I was really scared, and there was even a storm outside, things couldn’t have looked much worse. Then It was over, as quick as it had started it had finished. I remember thinking to myself, why don’t you faint now you plonker!

Egypt holidays turned out to be something I never returned to, next up was a choice between Maldives holidays or Sri Lanka holidays, both involve a plane!

Ok I have taken this holiday choice for one very good reason. It is expected to be one of the biggest holidays for tourists all over the world this year. There are a few people that do not research a country they are going to at all, so this should help out a bit. If you have never been here before but are considering it, definitely go, just read this first!

The flight to Sri Lanka may set you back quite a lot in terms of cash, but once you get there the prices are unbelievably low? There is no much in the way of expenses to pay. Now although it will cost a fair bit for you to actually to get to Sri Lanka, costs over there are very low. The great thing about Sri Lanka is quite simply the hotels. The chance to be treated like royalty is not something you could come across in many other countries. There is also a lovely chance for you to indulge in a safari, the majority of the time people like to explore this country, and this activity allows you to do this. There is a mass of jungles and forests so the chance to go on safari is so, the ability to have an adventurous holiday is available to all. There is a lot of ways for people to enjoy themselves on holiday in Sri Lanka.

This just like every other holiday in the world, has some downsides that may put you off. The weather is one of them, the rainy season comes about around October and through January, and there is no avoiding it. The rain is quite simply torrential. The rain may be annoying, but some can muddle through it, there are other reasons that may put you off. This is a very poor country, and it is still torn by civil war, which you really don’t want to get caught up in. Just make sure that you don’t enter the forests without a guide or a tour, it is important to make sure someone is with you at all times. Then there is the injections that you need to prevent yourself from obtaining any nasty illnesses, now this is the worst for me!

Sri Lanka holidays have become very popular, but if you want something more relaxing and less dangerous, you should try Maldives holidays or Caribbean holidays!

How many articles have you seen that say what you should DO on holiday? Is there anything that I should definitely visit when I go to this place? All of the items above can help you to enjoy your vacation, but what can you do to avoid the things that can make it worse? So Thailand is this example, here are the top 6 things not to do when you go on holiday to Thailand!

This country is extremely religious, Buddhists to be precise, make sure that you don’t make any funny remarks. Try to do your best to stay away from Buddha statues, make sure you don’t damage them. These statues are some of the most sacred in Thailand, it’s not a good idea to mess with them!

Thailand may have gathered a reputation for being a bit seedy in some districts, but during the day, please refrain from removing clothing, it is extremely disrespectful. When nightfall comes along, then you can get away with removing a t-shirt.

Just remember that even though some of these rules do not apply in Bangkok, there are some other things that you will need to remember! People tend to be very fast with their fingers and hands, so watch out for pick pockets they will grab your wallet without you even knowing. Don’t let yourself down by forgetting to bring protection, be safe, you never know what you will do after a bunch of drinks!

DO NOT TAKE OR CARRY ANY DRUGS WITH YOU. Hard drugs could land you in some serious trouble, incomparable to anything else, there was one example where a man was caught with heroin and sentenced to death!

Definitely do not stay to long! Unlike over here, if you are discovered without a valid visa, you will not be deported, you will be sent directly to jail, don’t pass go and definitely don’t collect 200 dollars!

Don’t just fall for one girl straight away and give her your everything. This is not a very nice thing to say, but the only problem is that if your bank details go missing so will your money!

Asia vacations are on the rise, Thailand holidays have really blasted off, but other popular ones are; Maldives holidays and Sri Lanka holidays!

How many articles have you seen that say what you should DO on holiday? Is there anything that I should definitely visit when I go to this place? All of the items above can help you to enjoy your vacation, but what can you do to avoid the things that can make it worse? Let’s use Thailand as an example, so here are 6 random helpful tactics for you to remember!

This country is extremely religious, Buddhists to be precise, make sure that you don’t make any funny remarks. Do your best NOT to damage any of Buddha’s figures, you can look, but try to avoid touching. Just because you were a vandal back home you won’t get away with it here, these statues are considered sacred projections of their god!

Although Bangkok is very seedy, the rest of Thailand is very reserved, so make sure you keep your clothes on and try not to be disrespectful. Women, sorry but you will have to keep clothes on at night as well, Men you may remove a shirt at night if you must in public.

Bangkok is probably the only place in Thailand where you can get away with everything listed here, but that is because of its westernisation, however there are some things I would make sure of! Mainly for the younger generations, be vigilant with your money, it can and will go walkies very fast, even when you go into a lap dance bar. Don’t let yourself down by forgetting to bring protection, be safe, you never know what you will do after a bunch of drinks!

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NO DRUGS. Hard drugs could land you in some serious trouble, incomparable to anything else, there was one example where a man was caught with heroin and sentenced to death!

Try not to hang around for too long! If you are no longer under a Visa to stay in this country, then make sure you leave, there are some cases where you could be crammed in a prison cell with more than 50 other prisoners, so keep your timeline in mind!

Don’t fall in love, or at least try not to. I know that this is an awful thing to say, just make sure they can’t get hold of your bank details, you may not think it could happen, and then BAM it does!

Asia vacations are on the rise, Thailand holidays have really blasted off, but other famous ones are; Maldives holidays and Sri Lanka holidays!

Ok I have taken this holiday choice for one very good reason. This is going to be one of the biggest holidays of the year according to several tour operators. There are a few people that do not research a country they are going to at all, so this should help out a bit. So I would like to help shed some light by giving the Pros and Cons of this country as a holiday location!

So we will start off with those all important Pros, what are the good points to going on holiday in Sri Lanka? There is no much in the way of expenses to pay. Getting there may cost a fair bit of money but once you are there, spending won’t really be happening all that much. The great thing about Sri Lanka is quite simply the hotels. You will be treated like a king, great room service at all hotels, and at most you will have great day spa facilities. If a Safari is what you would like to try, then you have got to give this a go, this is one of the main reasons people come to this country.

This rain comes down like a tidal wave. Now if you don’t mind getting a bit wet (it’s worse than a bit but never mind), then there are a couple of other problems. This country is in a state of poverty, and is being constantly battled in Civil war, although it has died down a little recently. One mistake many people make is wandering off into the wilderness alone, just make sure that someone is with you at all times. I can’t stand needles, so the injections that you need for certain parts of Sri Lanka simply aren’t worth it for me!

Sri Lanka holidays have become very popular, but if you want something more relaxing and less dangerous, you should try Maldives holidays or Caribbean holidays!
