The Royal Air Force Museum: The museum is home to a fantastic collection of aviation history. You’ll find over seventy aircraft housed in three wartime hangars. You can see some of the few remaining Spitfires, Vulcans and Hurricanes. Highly recommended!

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery: There are a huge range of exhibits including Egyptian mummiesa and a fantastic toy collection. Treat yourself to some culture and examine the largest collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings in the world.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens: Fifteen acres of beautiful gardens, great for exploring, along with four enormous glasshouses full of exotic plants.

And if you are touring with your family there is no shortage of places to visit for some fantastic days out. Here are a few suggestions:

Second City Canal Cruises: This is great fun. I can heartily recommend a canal boat cruise as I took one of these with my family last year and it was great fun.

The National Sea Life Centre: This national center is home to over sixty rare maritime species, not to be missed.

Newbrook Farm Experience: This is great for animal lovers. Many rare and ancient breeds can be seen here.

The Tower of London, the Houses Of Parliament, and Westminster Abbey are all not to be missed. You can take guided tours of each of these, so you can learn about their colorful histories, which will give you an even better appreciation of what stands before you. Also, be sure to find time for the House of Lords, the House of Commons, and the accompanying clock tower. Locals sometimes call it St. Stephens Tower just to make a point. Everyone else affectionately calls it Big Ben.

There are various palaces and historical buildings spread around the city. The Queen of England lives in the most famous of all them, which is called Buckingham Palace. Outside of Buckingham Palace you will see the famous guards clad in their red and black uniforms. You can take your picture with them, and even watch them run through some drills, which is a truly memorable sight to behold .

There is a great transportation system in London, so you can easily and safely travel to all the sights that you want to. Taxis (or black cabs as they are called in London) are plentiful, or you might want to try riding on one of the famous red double-decker buses. Next time you see a double-decker in a photo, you can say, “I did that”. Also, spend some time getting out and about on the underground train system.
